Brynja Dögg Friðriksdóttir (IS)
Brynja is an independent filmmaker and has worked as a freelancer in film, TV and commercials in Iceland since 2013. Prior to that she worked as a journalist and in TV production for Channel 2 and the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service (RÚV), as well as working as project manager at ICIJ - Icelandic Center for Investigative Journalism.
Most recently, Brynja was deployed by Iceland Crisis Response Unit to NATO´s Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan (2018-2019, one year deployment) and NATO´s enhanced Forward Presence Battlegroup in Lithuania (august 2019-april 2020, 6 months deployment). In both deployments she worked as a civilian public affairs officer and a videographer and made videos for NATO´s social media about the missions. Brynja has a MA degree in TV documentary production, BA in social anthropology and a diploma in media and journalism from University of Iceland. She directed feature documentary I Want to be Weird (2015) which was nominated the best Nordic Documentary at film festival Nordisk Panorama in 2015.
